Bishop Burns ordains six men to the priesthood for the Diocese of Dallas

From The Texas Catholic

Trumpets blared while a standing-room only crowd of the faithful sang out “Hallelujah” as Bishop Edward J. Burns welcomed six men as new priests for the Diocese of Dallas during an ordination Mass June 4 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco.

“This is a wonderful, glorious day for the Diocese of Dallas,” Bishop Burns said.

Those ordained were Father Cristian Casado Carmona, Father Michael Thomas Likoudis, Father Herbert Sebastián Martínez Victoria, Father Lucas Moreira de Sales, Father Ricardo Reyes Mata and Father Elijiah Jonas Gabriel Thomson.

“We recognize that the world needs good priests,” Bishop Burns said. “All of the people gathered here together today hope and pray that these men will fulfill the call and vocation that God has given to them.”

In his homily, the bishop reminded the new priests that their vocation is not one that they can do on their own.

“We recognize we cannot do it alone and that only by the grace of God that we do the work that he has called us to do,” Bishop Burns explained. “Pray for that grace. Continue to seek in the Holy Spirit the gifts that were given to you so that you may faithfully achieve the vocation that has been brought to you this day through this ordination to the priesthood.”
